MEG & DALE
Meg Deitner and Dale Craven are inspired leaders behind Branded Heroes.
Our Story
Meg started in horses at the age of 11, when she was sent to a summer camp after moving with her family from Holyoke to Westfield. At first it was just another day at summer camp but she quickly became hooked. Soon after she started volunteering at the barn and spent every moment she could there. At the age of 15 she got her first horse, a 4 month old qh stud colt named Flipper. Flip taught her a lot and from there she went on the showing quarter horse shows. She won her first belt buckle on flip at region six in 2007. Soon after she switched over to breeding and showing paints and pintos and partnered with dale. In 2017 they brought a life time goal to life and went to her first world show winning multiple top fives, in the fall of 2017 she went to congress winning congress champion and reserve champion with two of her horses and many top fives. Meg was getting burnt out in the show world and wasn’t enjoying horses like she once did. She heard about the extreme mustang challenge on the radio and decided to give it a try. To say it was a humbling experience is an understatement, it took 52 days to be able to touch her mustang. And she was pretty sure this wasn’t for her. She was convinced to try another one that was in hand only, no riding. Two days before picking that mustang up she decided to sell her horses, tack and trailer and take a break. But something told her that she should follow this commitment through. She drew a scraggly skinny little weanling that she definitely had her doubts about. That little filly was named Frauke and she changed her life forever. From that challenge on I was hooked to mustangs willingness, kind hearts and humbling attitudes. Frauke and Meg went on to win the 2017 mass tip challenge and she’s still with her today serving in the veteran program. Since then Meg has trained countless mustangs for personal use, challenges, and adopters. These mustangs have changed her life in so many ways between helping with her anxiety and depression to fears of crowds the list goes on, where she knew she had to help others with these amazing animals.
